Dear Ms. Cavanaugh,
My name is Rachel Baker and I was a student in Class #10 of yours in the Forensic Identification Program at Rio Hondo. I am writing to tell you of my successes and to thank you for your inspiration and support.

Five years ago I enrolled in an Intro to Forensic Science class at Tri-Cities ROP on a whim, knowing that I was interested in the field but never really believing I'd ever make it. You, along with Officer Chuck Drylie, always encouraged your students to pursue their careers no matter how impossible success seemed at the time. At our last class meeting you went around the room
and asked each of the students what we wanted for Christmas, I replied that I wanted tobe a student in Class #10 of your Forensic I.D. program at Rio Hondo. I thought my wish was a long shot because I knew how
impacted the program had become, however you took my wish to heart and despite pressures from administration you got me into Class #10.

All throughout the program you along with the Instructors, all who were experts in their field, inspired the students to excel in the program and never give up on our dreams. Shortly after graduation from the program I set out to find a job, armed with the priceless knowledge I'd gained from your program. I applied for a position with the Riverside County Coroner as soon as a position opened up. Well, after a few interviews, a thorough background investigation, polygraph examination, and a physical I am proud to say that I was offered and accepted a position as a Coroner's
Technician.

This past Thursday was my first day on the job and I loved every minute of it but I would not be where I am today were it not for your inspiration and belief in my ability and for that I am truly grateful. I hope that you will share this "success story" with new students so that they will also be inspired to pursue their dreams.

With continued admiration,
Rachel Baker
